Paint Correction in Salt Lake City

Swirls, scratches, and oxidation removed. Not covered up.
Those Swirls aren’t dirt. You can’t wash them out.
Pull your car into direct sun and look at the hood. See the spiderweb of fine circular scratches — the haze that makes black paint look gray? Those are swirl marks, and they're in the clear coat.
No wash removes them. No wax removes them. Wax fills them in for about three weeks and then they come back, because they were never gone.
The only thing that removes them is polishing — machine-cutting a microscopic layer of clear coat down to the bottom of the scratch, so the surface is flat again. That's paint correction.
Where swirls come from
Almost all of them come from washing. Specifically:
Automatic car washes. Spinning brushes that just scrubbed the truck ahead of you, carrying his grit onto your paint.
One bucket and a sponge. You pick up dirt, you put it back on the car, you rub it around.
Dry towels on a dirty car. Wiping dust off a dry hood is like sanding it.
The paint isn't damaged because you neglected it. It's damaged because it got washed the way most people wash cars.
One-step machine polish
A machine polish with a cutting compound that removes most defects: swirls, light scratches, oxidation, water spots, and hazing. On most cars, the difference is dramatic — dull, gray-looking paint comes back deep and reflective.
What it won't fix: deep scratches you can catch a fingernail in. Those need multi-stage correction, which I don't do in a driveway. If your car needs that, I'll tell you before we book.
Price depends on size and condition. A neglected black SUV takes far longer than a well-kept silver sedan. Send me photos and I'll quote it.
Polishing removes clear coat. You only get so much.
Every correction takes a thin layer of clear coat off your car. There's a finite amount there — which means you don't want to be doing this every year.
So protect it afterward. Otherwise you're back where you started in 18 months and paying to polish it again.
Hydro Blue sealant — $50. Months of protection. Good, cheap insurance.
Ceramic coating — from $800. Years of protection, and correction is already included in the price. If you're considering both, get the coating — you'd be paying for the correction twice otherwise.

The correction is permanent — those swirls are gone for good. What isn't permanent is the paint staying that way. If it goes back through automatic car washes, the swirls come right back. That's why I push protection afterward.

It removes a microscopic layer of clear coat — that's how it works. Done correctly, on a car that has clear coat to spare, it's completely safe. Done every year, it isn't. You've got a finite amount of clear coat, so correction should be a reset, not a routine.

You don't need one — but you need something. Bare corrected paint is unprotected paint, and it'll swirl right back up. Cheapest option is Hydro Blue sealant at $50. Best option is a ceramic coating, which already includes the correction — so if you're thinking about both, get the coating and don't pay for correction twice.
